Why VBC?

Thank you for visiting our home site!

Choosing a church home is a very challenging decision to make in today’s world. With church attendance statistically at its lowest in Canadian history, many people are confused as to what a church is and have quit going. They have seen most churches change and adapt to the prevailing winds of the times and have become more man-centered than Christ-focused and Bible-based. Too many churches have become rock concerts and places of entertainment where the shallow teaching/preaching is aimed at drawing and pleasing a crowd rather than striving to honour God.

At VBC, we are not aspiring to be special, unique, “the” church to attend.

All we humbly desire to do is follow the Bible and worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:23). In striving for that, the Bible is our only source of truth for all that we believe and teach.
Our desire is like what the Apostle Paul said to the Colossian church about Jesus Christ, “That in all things he might have the preeminence” (Colossians 1:18).

Come and visit us!

You cannot much discern about a church from what it writes about itself! So, I invite you to attend one of our services and discover the distinctives of our church for yourself. I think you’ll find a lot of ordinary people from many countries and cultures who have found VBC to be a church that genuinely loves the Lord and His Scriptures. Some attending are not Christian yet and we’re glad they coming and are investigating the
claims of the Bible. Some are new Christians, just learning to read and apply the Bible to their lives. Others are older Christians who are living out their last years in service to the Lord.

God wants you to be saved.

The Lord’s will is that everyone be saved from their sins (John 3:16; 2 Peter 3:9), not a select or chosen few. God’s will also is that every Christian find a church home (Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:24-25) where their faith can be nourished and challenged (2 Peter 3:18; Colossians 2:6-10); where their God-given spiritual gifts (teaching, exhorting, mercy, administrating, etc.) can be put to practice in church ministries (1 Peter 4:10-11); and where they can meaningfully and acceptingly worship the Lord (John 4:24 vs. Mark 7:7-9).

Come, visit us and see if VBC is a place for you to be, to become, and to belong! God bless your journey to honouring Him!
